2 Stars Picture is fine, but Lag time between channels is painful
Just received my lc32d64u this week!

I cannot tell if the unit is supposed to do this, or its faulty, but when I switch channels, there is a lag, I see a black screen then the new channel with the info in the top right corner.

That is frustrating.

Does anyone else have this issue??

5 Stars Outstanding HDTV
The sharp aquos (32")was the perfect size for the room I bought it for. The setup was easy, the picture is great (even with the sun shinning on it).

I would higly recommend this product to anyone for a small room that wants a quality product at a reasonable price.

5 Stars Fantastic Viewing
I purchased this TV when it first became available. I was prepared to purchase the earlier version but I knew that the this model, if it became available, would work better for me. I live and travel full-time in a fifth wheel trailer. My available space is restrictive. I knew that the reduction in depth and bezel dimensions would make installation much easier. I intitially set it up using the base provided. The set worked beautifully as soon as I plugged it in and hooked up my HD satellite service. The HD version of the weather channel is so clear that you think your viewing it live in the studio. Reception of HD over the air channels is amazing using the standard antenna that came with my camper. I can make a comparison with my daughter's 42 inch Panasonic Plasma. The Aquos is superior at comparable distances. I echo the other reviews that talk about the crispness of the picture. I am glad is waited for this latest technology by Sharp. Before starting my summer travels I make custom mounting using a standard arm. I enlarged the wall TV opening to fit flush to the TV with 1/4 inch foam rubber on all sides to cushion road travel. I have traveled 3000 miles since installation.

5 Stars A Crisp Compact LCD TV
This is my second Sharp Aquos LCD TV. The first one was a 30" that required a set top box to drive it. It lasted five years before suddenly failing. This unit, compared to it, has a much sharper picture and the controls are very easy to use. It is super easy to change the aspect ratio and the picture is very crisp and clear with good color balance. I use Dish Net with S-video signal input into the unit. It is also connected to a Sony tuner, Toshiba DVD player/recorder and VHS Tape player To this point I am very happy with the unit but if one fails after warantee period be prepared to pay big bucks for repair. In my case it was cheaper to buy a new set rather than repair my old set top.

5 Stars WOW
The Sharp Aquos LC32D64U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV is an amazing TV. I could not be happier. The picture on the HD channels is so realistic that I get motion sickness when watching cycling! I can't wait for the winter Olympics! The picture on the regular channels is great. What can I say about the sound? I am hearing sounds that I have never heard from my TV before. When I am in another room (and the TV is on), I have to go into the living room to see what I'm hearing. Buy this TV you will not be sorry.

I was shocked at how fast Electronic Express got this TV to my house. I placed my Amazon order on Sunday 09/28/08 and I had the TV by Wednesday 10/01/08. Thank you Amazon and Electronic Express!

4 Stars Solid TV for the price
First off, yes I do see banding on vertical and horizontal pans with solid bright back grounds. Its not that bad and if I had never gone on to the AVS forum I would probably never had noticed it. If stuff like that bothers you then don't buy this TV or any other LCD TV in this price range. They all have some sort of artifact type issues. If you don't want any artifacts or motion blur then go plasma. You can go 120hz on a LCD but your going to pay a lot more money for the same TV with a higher refresh rate.

The good...

I think Sharp has the best overall HD picture and color compared to any other TV in this price range. The colors are fantastic and I like the fact that you can fine tune the TV to your hearts desire. Black levels look good as well. The TV cabinet is well designed and the sound quality is good. SD channels look alright, better then most of the sets that I have seen out there. There is some motion blur on sports but not near as bad as the entry level Sony and Samsung TVs.

The bad...

As I stated before it does having banding. Don't fool yourself into thinking you will get one with out it, they all have it. I mostly notice it when I am watching football and the camera does a fast side to side pan. I have read that a lot of people have problems watching hockey because banding that is caused by the ice. The remote is not very good. It wont control my Phillips DVD player or my Sony receiver. For some strange reason it does work with my Motorola cable box.

If it weren't for the banding this would be a 5 star TV. I have had it for about 3 weeks now with no other technical issues. I will update this review if any think changes

Cheers

4 Stars Nice....But, a few issues others failed to mention
Just got this TV yesterday. Was actually shopping for a DVD upconverter. But decided to upgrade the 2 yr old Insignia 32" 720p.

I like the quick/easy approach, so the First thing I noticed when I tried to hook up my surround speakers was that there is no Headphone jack! Even though that is mentioned on Amazon in the description as a feature. So now I hope I can find some type of cable to convert the RCA outputs for My speaker system. I don't expect to upgrade to a new surround setup just for that. If I find any other workaround I'll let you know.

Also I was trying to figure out if I had the latest firmware revision. The manual says to go to Menu/Digital Setup/Identification. Well, how about...this option doesn't exist! So I don't know if I need an update or not. I suppose I have to guess. (I only get the software update option.)

This upscales Std Defn. better than most TVs I have seen, not as grainy. But I am still having a tough time adjusting the greens out of this thing just like the one I noticed in the BB store. I hoped it was just the way they had adjusted theirs. Also, it is amazing how different the video looks based on the source material. For instance, I was watching a News broadcast the first night and they had 2 interviewees on a split screen. It was amazing how degraded and molten one half of the screen looked and the other half looked decent.

Speaking of which, the blacks, yes they are very black, but my picture often looks too black. I have tried adjusting contrast and brightness various ways, but I'll still get a scene where I feel like it's too dark to see the action. No banding yet. Maybe it's just me.

I am planning to try one of those "Digital Video Essentials" DVD's that were mentioned on one of the forums.

One other thing I seldom see mentioned. These make the most AWESOME PC monitors!! I love seeing my photos so large and using MediaPlayer visuals! I don't ever see much info on this type of usage. But that RS232 jack is Gold in my book. It was even amazing on my old 32". But I did expect this newer, higher-end TV to handle a resolution finer than 1024x768. Hope I just missed a setting somewhere. I'll call Cust. Svc. this week and check them out.

Good luck All !

4 Stars Great tv
Beautiful picture, but then our last "new" tv was 10 years old. Only complaint - it will not pick up most of the current digital stations offered by our local channels. Sharp says the problem is with our antenna, which is not that old.

5 Stars Very Pleased
The TV is great , the delivery was outstanding and the delivery was on time

1 Star Save your money, buy a Sony
I've wanted an HDTV for a long time. Ever since I set my eyes on the crisp picture and vibrant color that high definition had to offer I was determined to have one. So after years of waiting and saving I finally decided I was going to take the plunge. I took the time to do my research and after a month or so of comparing reviews and staring aimlessly at in store floor models I decided that the Sharp Aquos 46 inch LCD HDTV was exactly what I was looking for. After all, it was a quality product that got great reviews at a comparable price, how could I possibly go wrong?

After I bought my television I took it home and carefully unpacked it, plugged it, turned it on and basked in all the glory that Sharp had to offer. For a short time, the relationship was a good one. I came home and it dazzled me with a crisp fluid picture, superior sound, and a full 1080p resolution, I was in love. A whole new world was at my finger tips, Dirty Jobs never looked so dirty, I was totally smitten. Then suddenly without notice, everything changed.

The screen went black and the sound went off. This happened in 20 to 25 minute intervals. Frustrated, I did what every good consumer would do, I called customer support. Naturally they walked me through all the obvious troubleshooting steps, is the TV on? Is the power chord plugged in? Is the sleep timer on? No, no and no. Twenty five wasted Verizon minutes later they decided they were going to send out a tv repair man to resolve the issue. Keep in mind, at this point I'd owned the TV for one month. The repairman determined (on the phone) the problem was the circuit board. How can you determine the solution to a problem without physically diagnosing it? Initially, after the parts were replaced everything went smoothly. The TV, by all accounts, was running full steam...at least for a little while.

Within three days, the screen went black and the sound went off...again. I sat on my couch perplexed, how could Sharp put out such a subpar product? What ever happened to the customers always right? After all I owned the product for little over a month, don't I deserve a new television? I guess not. Suffice to say I'm not happy. Tomorrow I'll call Sharp again, and most likely they'll be sending out ANOTHER repairman to not fix my television. So if I could give you one piece of advice it's this, save your money and by a Sony.

5 Stars A great TV for me
I personally love this TV and the picture and sound that it gives. However I must state that the TV it was replacing probably should be in a museum. We have not as of yet upgraded to HD service and are still working on our usual cable service. love the picture which is a huge upgrade from what we had before. Personally the speakers are also great for me but again that is most likely because of where we started from before we got this TV. I love the fact that I am able to have both my DVD player and my Wii hooked up at the same time. The graphics when playing the Wii are great. The colours are crisp and bright. I would recommend that you change the colour settings to what you like as soon as you get it as it makes a huge difference. For the price I would say this was a great TV I am sure if you are worried about the specs etc then yes you could do better but you would also pay a lot more too.

4 Stars "B+" LCD HDTV
I also have a Sharp 20 inch LCD HDTV (non-Aquos) which I have enjoyed for 6 months. I would give it an A-. The 20 inch was purchased to replace a 20 inch Sony Trinitron (analog tube TV). I really needed a bigger screen since I typically sit about 8-9 feet away from the screen. This new 32 inch LCD HDTV is just right. However, it seems to be MUCH darker than the 20 inch Sharp. I had to adjust the settings to get the screen where I wanted it. Now I feel the picture is just shy of a Samsung or Sony, but the Sharp price combined with the internal HDTV and QAM tuner pushed me to the Sharp. It is easy to use and the stand is quite strong (no wobbling). Overall I am very happy with my Sharp TVs.

5 Stars Perfect
This TV is amazing. Perfect size for my bedroom and beautiful image. Sound quality is mediocre but a $80 pair of speakers will fix that. Overall this is worth every penny.

5 Stars Awesome HDTV.
This TV is my very first HDTV purchase, so to say my HD upgrade.

Sure, it isn't 1080p, but it gets up to 720p, which is, in my opinion, good enough for the money you'll spend on this TV. The menus are slick and simple to navigate and the inputs are all clearly marked. (Some of the inputs go in on the back, while others, like HDMI, plug into the side.)

To put it straight: If you are looking for a good intro or upgrade to HDTVs, then I'd really recommend this TV. It is perfect for a bedroom or for some living rooms. It is a sleek, good looking TV and is well worth the money spent on it.

4 Stars Sharp Picture Works Great!!!
This has been a Great product No Problems,Easy to Hook-Up.Not as Clear as a Plasma but For a LCD HDTV I think it has a High Quality Picture.

5 Stars Great picture, but needs some tweaking out of the box
This is a terrific large flat panel TV. The sharpness and color is exceptional. The factory defaults were too saturated, however, and took some adjustment.

4 Stars Could be better
Almost all in this TV is right, the only one problem that I can see is the black color "it have not realism" as the others colors, therefore, for the money that paid I think could live with it.

5 Stars Wow
After it arrived, we could not believe the clarity and the quality it presented. We are very pleased with this purchase.

1 Star very expensive mistake
Sharp Aquos LC52D64U is horrible, it was delivered 3 weeks ago and I have spent all my tv viewing time since trying to tweak it.

Impossible to get colors right and when you get close on one channel, you invariably have to re-adjust on next channel.

Picture is only clear on up close shots, as soon as video switches to a medium to distant shot , all is out of focus. Same for DVD'S. My old Panosonic 32 inch CRT has 10 times better picture and I have never had to adjust the settings....ever!

Sharp support was no help, they stated that this was a HDTV and I could not expect to get a decent picture on non-HD channels. This is unbelievable, why would anyone buy a TV that you can only watch 6 channels or so, out of 200. Besides the HD channels only are clear on close up shots also, anything else is out of focus.

I will give Sharp one more chance/call and then I will send this item back, as my return window will expite shortly.

4 Stars Sharp Aquos LC52D64U
After careful use and adequate shakedown time, I find this LCD TV remarkably great. It is sharp and the visual angels of view are equally great. However, the black shiny plastic bezels is easy to scratch, and cannot be cleaned well due to this fact. Secondly the display is not as bright as it should be. Most images are darker when compared to other LCD screens.

5 Stars a little research pays off
i researched the more reputable manufacturers, price, what you get for the money, and customer reviews. i wanted a great tv for fast action sports, namely pro football. i have never enjoyed football more. all other hd programming is awesome as well. very pleased with purchase and overall buying experience.

5 Stars sharp has saved me as a customer
I originally owned a 42d62u that developed problems and sharp replaced it with a refurbed 42d64u that came with problems. They replaced that set with a new 46d82u that i received today. It is an 803xxxx serial. I could not be happier having owned sharps with problems i was not expecting to be this pleased with the set. The picture is amazing and looks great with both cable hd and bluray. Sharp went above and beyond what i would expect a company to do when dealing with a warranty claim. My 62u was 2 months over the warranty when they agreed to replace it, which is why they sent me a refurbished 64u and not a new one. When that set had issues they upgraded me to this new 46d82u. Great set that handles everything i've tested with no motion blur, no banding and an overall amazing picture. Do not let sharp's lcd issues scare you away from their lcd's. They have the best customer service i have ever experienced, they stand behind their products, and will make every effort to make the customer satisfied if they have a set with a problem.

5 Stars Best In Class
Few possessions inspire as much emotional response as electronics - and specifically the amount televisions do. For that reason I'm a bit hesitant to review the Sharp Aquos LC46D82U. So I will begin by stating clearly that while I believe the 82U - and now the 84U - are the best TV's in the mid-ranged HDTV market, there are better televisions out there - though not at a mid-range price point.

Now to the details, I've owned my 82U for a little over one year and in that time I've watched everything from 1080p Blu-Ray movies, standard definition and HD cable, 480p DVDs and upconverted 1080i DVDs. I've also used the set for gaming and have tried everything from Sony's PS2 and PS3 to a Nintendo Wii. The obvious conclusion from viewing all of those different formats is that the better the source the better your picture will be.

High definition sources such as Blu-Ray movies and games all look astounding. As expected standard definition sources look just "okay". In my experience using the Aquos (and other 16:9 HDTVs) is that standard definition content is best viewed in letterbox or 4:3. Stretching the picture to fill a 16:9 screen results in less than desirable picture quality. Either way adjusting the picture size is as simple as a button press on the remote. Watch what looks best to you.

The LC46D82U offers a fantastic 4 millisecond response time meaning that the motion blur once attributable to LCDs is gone. Content once the bane of LCDs such as games and sports programs are easily handled by the Aquos.

The available dynamic backlight offers a continual adjusting light engine that can create rich black levels and vibrant bright colors. Out of the box the Aquos offers several factory presets for lighting and picture control though thankfully each is independently adjustable. My advice is to acquire a configuration disc to properly tune the settings for optimal picture quality. Several stores also offer professional set up services though I think they're generally overpriced.

One of my favorite features of the Aquos is the construction of the actual screen. The Aquos offers one of the best screens I've encountered in HDTVs. The material of the screen serves to deaden ambient light while allowing for tremendous picture quality. What it means is that the Aquos can be successfully utilized in even very bright rooms without experiencing a washed out picture.

The speakers included with the Aquos are functional and aren't intended to provide a movie theater like experience. The slim profile of the Aquos being the main restriction to the size and output of the speakers. That said I've found no gripe with what's included. The speakers are clear and play sufficiently loud to satisfy those used to television speakers.

Before I purchased my Aquos I heavily researched competitors in it's class. What I found was that the Aquos suited by needs and budget best. I would recommend others to do the same. All told I am extremely pleased with the my Aquos and recommend it to anyone looking for a mid-ranged HDTV.

5 Stars great value!
Compares with top of the line SONY and SAMSUNG. All the bells and whistles but at hundreds of dollars less.

5 Stars The best purchase I've made in over a year
I don't know where to start, so I guess I'll go back a couple months. Back in November I had purchased a 1080P 47" Westinghouse from BestBuy, the TV featured blacks which looked like grays, 30 second warm-up period and finally locked up after less than two weeks. I returned it for a full refund and began researching other brands/models. After all of my research it came down to three choices: Sharp Aquos, Sony Bravia XBR and Samsung. In the end I went with Sharp, the CNET review sold me.

So I finally ordered my Sharp Aquos early January, I've never bought from Amazon before and with the exception of my mattress and box spring I've never ordered something this large online before. I have to admit I was somewhat afraid of which could lie in store for me. But all of my worries turned out to be just worries.

I received my LCD TV in less than a week of ordering it and fell in love with it. Blacks look like blacks and the contrast level floors me. Mass Effect for xbox360 is absolutely breath taking. For games like Burnout Paradise you actually get drawn into the game because the color is so vivid and the refresh rate appears almost instantaneously. High definition content looks spectacular too, watching Transformers on HDDVD was almost as good as it was on the big screen.

The only gripe I have with it is that I think that it uses a 6-bot color profile and not an 8-bit color profile. Maybe I'm being too picky, just about everything I've thrown at it has looked flawless. Overall it's a great LCD TV for anyone looking to upgrade or buy their first LCD panel.

Also, I wish all of the LCD TV manufactures would have continued to support the DVI-D interface longer. Most people will just do what I did and use a HDMI-to-DVI-D cable to power my MCE system, but HDMI-DVI cables do not support dual link DVI, so there is less bandwidth in the cable. If companies like Nvidia would release HDMI port equipped cards I wouldn't even mention it, but the only products offering HDMI ports on them are motherboard manufactures using onboard graphics...yuck

One final note, Amazon has made me a firm believer in them after this purchase. With-in 30 days they lowered the price on this TV, so I followed the steps in order to be refunded the price difference. I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes and they green lighted my refund difference. I still can't believe it, it was so simple and hassle free. Kudos, Kudos.
