User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars complete satisfaction
We are completely satisfide with the TV and also the service we got from Amazon. This was our first time ordering and the speed with which we got the TV was great. Saving on shipping was a real plus. The delivery person brought the TV in, hooked it up to the cable and left. No problems at all. The pictures on the TV are great - sharp and clear. There is a few second hesitation when you go to a different channel, but this to us is not a major problem.

5 Stars very nice
We've had the Toshiba REGZA 37RV530U HDTV for about 3 months now. We got it to replace an old 19 inch TV which was just too small for our new bedroom viewed mostly from around 15-20 feet away. The upgrade to 37 inch was dramatic, we can actually read the DirecTV guide from bed now!

Picture quality on the 37RV530U with our DirecTV Satellite receiver (digital, standard definition) has been very nice after some adjustments, which this TV has plenty of. The surprise has been the over the air High Definition local stations (720p), which look superb on this TV. I attached an old bow tie type antenna we had, not expecting much, but surprisingly we receive most of the local SF Bay area stations in HD. It was a pleasure watching Olympics late night from bed in HD!

This TV also has a VGA input for attaching PCs, which works well for a TV. Have not tried anything at 1080p yet. I wish it had picture in picture, but most LCD HDTVs don't. Overall been very happy with this purchase, well done Toshiba.

For those who might want to save some money, you can go with a 720p HDTV and not sacrifice much unless you have a blueray player or a PS3.

5 Stars Spec Discrepancy
Great picture, great price. This TV looks fantastic ON or OFF. I needed to fit it in a space exactly 36" wide. The problem was, no store carries this model, so measuring it was not an option. It's an online purchase only and the online stores gave a width spec of 36.5". I checked the Toshiba website and the spec there was 35.5". I took a chance and luckily the actual width was 35.25". FYI

4 Stars TV is Great, Internet is not
[...]

This TV arrived with a defective screen. I do not live near a major city, so it took EIGHT weeks to get my TV approved to send off, actually send off, and get back. NOW it is great - has a beautiful picture, and I am totally please with it.

But, I will NOT buy a large item like this online again, as EIGHT WEEKs is ridiculous to have spent my money but have no TV.

1 Star Do not buy Toshiba
I bought this TV set 40 days ago and I am still waiting to have my new TV. I received a faulty TV set, Toshiba service took the TVToshiba REGZA 37RV530U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV set from my home and I am still waiting. Nobody is responsible: Neither Toshiba nor Electronic Express. Just BE CAREFULL!!!!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars pioneer6020fd
Amazon was very easy to work with. The delivery time was excellent . the only negative comment would be about the White Glove service. The delivery person knew nothing about the TV. He didn't even know how to turn it on. After reading the manual, I figured how to turn it on and he had me do it so if something went wrong it would be my fault and not his. He helped me put the TV on the cabinet but would not connect it. After I connected it and got a picture on it, he picked up the packaging and took it away. It's a good thing the White Glove service didn't cost anything or I would be asking for a refund. The TV itself is perfect in every respect. I would recommend it to anyone. Purchasing anything through amazon is great.

5 Stars Incredible High Definition Picture
I bought this set from Amazon over two months ago and have waited until now to add my review. The initial delay was due to DirecTVs 4 week waiting list to hook up their HR22 high definition DVR to this amazing Pioneer Kuro set.

Since I was forced to watch standard def images on the 6020FD for almost a month, you can guess the difference a high definition picture made. I can not add to the superlatives mentioned in the other reviews with regard to the Pioneer Kuro. The colors are vivid and the images literally jump off the screen. I didn't understand all the talk about the color "black" and how it's different from plasma to plasma but I do now. Want to really be blown away by this new tv? Punch up one of the kids channels available in high def like Disney or The Cartoon Network. The color saturation on these animated shows is not to be believed. Even my kids are impressed by the set.

Here are a few caveats for the White Glove Delivery as I too, had a few issues. First, working with Amazon was a joy with regard to this order. The problem I had was with CEVA when they called to schedule delivery. I asked them to verify the White Glove Service and they did NOT show that in their files. A quick call to Amazon fixed everything, no problem. I would recommend checking to see if White Glove Delivery has been selected.

Secondly, the two guys who delivered my set were excellent unlike some other reviews I've read here. I've found in life if you treat people nicely with respect, often times you'll receive better service. The old adage of attracting more flies with honey as opposed to vinegar. They brought the set in, removed it from the box, placed it on the table where I wanted it, and powered it up (even though I had read the online Pioneer manual weeks ago). All I did was offer them a few sodas for their trouble.

One final thing to remember is that the speakers are packed below the set. I hooked my 6020FD to some speakers that I installed in the wall and almost let the delivery guys take the box away as they were leaving. Am so glad I didn't as they would have been throwing away the Pioneer speaker enclosure for the set. Don't make this same mistake!!!

I'm now in the market for another plasma that will be placed in our game room. Shall be ordering from Amazon again without a doubt.

5 Stars Pioneer Kuro PDP-6020FD
This Plasma is one of the greats. Detail, depth, quality of resolution

are superb. It makes you wonder why everyone is jumping on the LCD wagon.

Honestly, LCDs have very nice pictures in the upper end models, however,

I do not see LCDs being close to the smoothness, depth, and just plain

delivery that this plasma can put out...and Pioneer is the paradigm

of this technology.

5 Stars Exceptional!
Have only had this Kuro plasma for a week, but sure enjoying the World Series & all the HD channels.

We don't have a BlueRay yet but that's coming soon.

If you can't decide between this and the Elite, and if money is no object, go for the Elite BUT if you are over 50, like us, save your money and just get this one as older eyes can hardly detect any difference in picture quality. Yes, there are a couple more bells and whistles on the Elite, but this is one amazing tv. It does give off some heat so be prepared for that. You will need a special cable wire and a surge protector, so expect to add another $150 for those.

Go for it and you'll feel rewarded each time you turn it on.

5 Stars Great retirement present!!
My husband bought this 60inch plasma TV for himself for his retirement present. We figure we will be spending the winter watching TV, so why not watch it on the best? The TV was delivered right to our living room...and it is beautiful!! I told my husband that I feel like we are sitting in the front row of our local movie theatre! The picture is so clear....and beautiful!! The "high definition" is exceptional......so glad we "splurged" for this retirement gift!!

5 Stars Panasonic Viera TH-58PZ800U is AMAZING!!!
I recently purchased the panasonic th58pz800u from amazon for $3019, which I feel is very reasonable (The price has indeed fluctuated between $2899 and $3799 on amazon during the time I was shopping for it). Once ordered, the television was delivered in 3 business days (I'm in CA). Although the amazon website said it would be delivered "white glove", the delivery persons did not have that information. However, when we let them know that's what we were expecting, they willingly obliged by unpacking the t.v., placing it on it's stand, turned it on and left with all the packing materials. Pretty nice! Before purchasing this t.v. which I waited for a while before it was even available, I was considering the Pioneer pdp6020fd, which in my mind is the only other comparable plasma set, image quality and features wise. I opted for a plasma because I felt that it had the superior picture (contrast, colors, sharpness) over all the nicer lcd screens available (120hz sony xbr, samsung, toshiba) particularly when viewing lots of full-range motion (sports and movies), the panasonic and pioneer plasmas handled the edging the most smoothly. I found the Panasonic set to be very close in image quality with the pioneer but for $1000-$1500 less. I didn't care for the samsung sets because they generated so much heat. The panasonic and pioneer sets both don't noticeably change the temperature of a room.

I setup my panasonic with all my sources being piped through my Denon avr2808ci, which upconverts all sources through it's hdmi out. I have a hd cable box (connected via hdmi), a dvd player (connected via component) and a sony ps3 (connected via hdmi) hooked-up through the denon. The 1080i from the hd cable box looks amazing! The 1080p from the ps3 bluray is flawless and the 480p upconverted from dvd looks surprisingly great as well. In each case, the colors are vibrant and the blacks are so black that the blacks in an image are consistent with the black of the screen when it is turned-off. All in all, I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the panasonic and find it to be the finest television I have owned (The t.v. I replaced was a hd-capable 57" sony xbr rear projection whose blacks were actually dark gray...I bought this t.v. for $1500 more than the panasonic set 7 years ago).

In my particular setup, I had to make sure that all my hdmi cables were hdmi v1.3 cables otherwise the denon throughput no signal to the television. Monoprice.com had excellent hdmi v1.3 cables for about $13 each. I was able to get a great bdi stand for it from dynamichomedecor.com which I also found to be an excellent resource.

I highly recommend the purchase from amazon.com primarily because of the included "white glove" delivery, just make sure at the time of purchase that it is stated. I know that vanns.com and other reputable places may have slightly lower prices, but for me the "white glove" delivery really made the whole process much easier and sweeter.

5 Stars Don't assume anything, ask if you're not sure!!!
Two months ago I bought a 52" LCD TV (not Panasonic) for my family room, so my grand kids could watch TV and play Xbox & Playstation 3 games. The TV was bought directly from Amazon and the shipping was free. When it got to my house over three weeks later, two men deliverd the TV and put it in my family room. They took it out of the box and set it up and pluged it in to make sure everything worked. (It did) They said the white glove service was on all TV's from Amazon. On 08/29/2008 I went to Amazon's web sight and bought my TH-58PZ800U ($2961.99) for my living room and the shipping was free too. My 58" Panasonic TV was actually bought from a partner company through Amazon, called Buy Now Inc., which still honored the free shipping. When the TV was delivered 09/11/2008 (in very good condition), it was only delivered by one man and it was a side walk delivery only. He saw I was disabled and was nice enough to bring it in through my front door and left it in my living room. I unpacked it and set it up two days later. The TV (140 lbs) comes with a stand and it's very easy to set up but you will need at least two healthy people and three is even better. I called Amazon and asked why the difference in my type of delivery? They said, All TV items bought directly from Amazon get the white glove type delivery treatment and from partner companies in most cases it will be a side walk delivery only. Both times the trucking company called a day or two ahead, to set up the delivery I strongly recommed you ask what type of delivery you're getting. I hope this helps?

Now about the TH-58PZ800U Panasonic Plasma TV which I researched for over a month before I bought it. I read all the personal and profesional reviews I could find. I was very lucky to have a major National Electronics store in my area that had a large selection of most of the major brands that made Plasma TV's. I want to be very honest in this review. Three or four other brands of Plasma TV's have come a long way and they looked great. I tried to compare apples to apples by comparing only Plasma TV's because that's what I wanted for my living room. It was very hard to see a major difference in picture and color in alot of todays Plasma TV's on display. I narrowed it down to two or three Plasma TV's in the 58" to 60" range. What made the decision for me was: My 58" Panasonic had a very good picture, colors were excellent, the non glare screen, all the HDMI (4) and other inputs, Panasonics Reputation, Quality and Repair history. I already own a 42" Panasonic Plasma TV that is 5 years old and it still has a great picture. Last but not least, the sound from the TV speakers is great if you don't have a home sound system, which I do, so I checked it out and then I hooked it up to my ow home sound system. The remote control is easy to use and the menu, doing the TV set up, is very easy and quick to do. Right now I have no negatives because I've only had the TV for 5 days and used it for 3 days. I hope this review has helped in some ways.

4 Stars Very Satisfied Panasonic purchaser!
I researched HDTV's for over a year and after after careful consideration, I chose the 58" Panasonic Viera Plasma. I've had it for two weeks now and am very very happy with the set (and relieved). A relative has the 60" Pioneer Elite Kuro and paid $7000 for it. I can honestly say that my Panasonic is really close in picture quality to the Pioneer at more than half the price.

The set up is easy, sound is good and the picture quality is super.

5 Stars Shock & Awe
Look at the picture & forget about the price, other reviews mentioned how much this TV cost, I will not. Why? Because, when your focus is to get the best TV out there the price should comes second. To me, this is the one. I watch this TV from about 13 feet away and have a direct TV DVR receiver connected by monster 1000 HDMI cable. Wow!

Here is a double Wow! Get the Panasonic Blue-ray Disc player DMP-BD30 will do and connect it to this TV set by HDMI connection, get the "planet earth" Blue-ray CD and you will experience audio/video Shock & Awe.

I am not bias to Panasonic, in fact the only Panasonic I ever purchased in my life was a panasonic wireless telephone, 6 years old and still going... So I figured the TV would be as durable, so far so good.

Hey, if price is the issue, an average person will keep a good TV set 5 to 7 years. Now divide the cost by the amount of years you think you will keep this TV. Got it?

Au revoir mes amis, I am going to watch TV

5 Stars This TV is very crisp and beautiful
I got this TV b/c cnet seemed to rave about it. I had a TH-50PX600U and that was a nice TV and I'm a big panasonic fan, but this TV I can definitely notice an improvement in quality from my cable HD channels, even though both are from the same 720p signal. In addition, watching Blu-Ray from this is beautiful (I'm using a PS3). I'm really happy with the purchase. One recommendation for anyone owning this TV is to use custom settings and not use the settings that are default.

The rest of the review is copy/pasted from "daarrid" over at avsforum.com

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1056962

However lets remember that the THX mode can be adjusted!!!! Panasonic's default settings for THX are just wrong. The CNET reviewer, using a completely dark room, adjusted the THX settings considerably upward from their default settings. Just for the sake of example - CNET increased the picture setting from 50 to 100 for their review.

I'd suggest that anyone owning this set start with CNET's THX settings:

CNET's THX settings (completely dark room):

Picture: 100

Brightness: 55

Color: 56

Tint: 0

Sharpness: 50

Color Temp: Warm

Cats: Off

Color Man.: Off

MPEG NR: Off

HD Size: Size 2

Black Level: Light

Or try My THX Settings (for a dimly lite room):

THX MODE:

Picture: 95

Brightness: 62

Color: 50

Tint: -8

Sharpness: 50

Color Temp: Normal

Cats: Off

Color Man.: On

MPEG NR: Off

HD Size: Size 2

Black Level: Light

While I use my Custom settings occassionally - tweaking the THX settings are much more important for everyday use. I use THX 90% of the time. The Custom Mode I created, I generally use ONLY for broadcasts made for TV. Remember THX is a movie standard and does not technically apply to TV shows (although some of these TV shows may also look better in THX).

Here are my custom mode settings again (already posted). Use these settings for TV shows and/or movies shown in a bright room:

CUSTOM MODE:

Picture: 85

Brightness: 50

Color: 34

Tint: -7

Cats: Off

Color Man.: On

Black Level: Light

5 Stars good for the price
Easy set-up and great picture for the price. 6ms refresh rate makes the picture blur at times, but happens very rarely. Owned it for one month with no problems.

5 Stars Sharp Aquos is a good buy
I read many reviews some positive and some negative, I went with the positive ones and my own experiences with other Sharp products. I have had a Sharp Aquos LD37D44U 37-Inch LCD HDTV for about a month and must say that I am very pleased with it so far.

The picture quality is very good and it has every connection that you may want on the back. I am using the HDMI connection from a HDTV Verizon FIOS Box.

I have no problems with any lines or dead pixels as some have written about. If you are looking to buy a solid TV and not over pay for a name, then consider buying one of the Sharp Aquos LCD TVs.

Get ready for watching all your favorite movies and shows with the new Toshiba 32AV500U 720p HD TV. This great looking LCD TV has CineSpeed LCD panels that gives 8ms or faster response speed necessary for cleaner high-action home theater images, and a wide viewing angle that ensures you'll have the best seat in the house. The benefit of DynaLight Back-Light Control is that it utilizes advanced image processing to monitor the brightness of each video frame, and adjust the backlight intensity accordingly based in the image content. This precision creates seamless transitions with deep blacks for increased detail and depth analysis, even in low light environments. Your ears will thank you with StableSound that maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. Take advantage of 720p HD picture quality and an impressive feature set with the 32AV500U. This model is a great addition for any home theater, and can also be used as a computer monitor by using the PC Input for displaying family photos or business presentations. 60Hz Video Scan Rate SoundStrip Speaker System with StableSound Integrated NTSC/ATSC/QAM TV Tuning Input Ports - 2 x HDMI, 2 x Composite Video, 1 x Rear S-Video, 1 x Front A/V, 1 x Rear A/V, 1 x PC 15Pin (VGA), Analog Audio Out, Dolby Digital Optical Out Approximate Unit Dimensions - 31.6 (W) x 23.4 (H) x 12.3 (D) with Stand Approximate Unit Weight - 37 pounds with Stand

2 Stars HDMI PROBLEMS...
I bought this tv based upon the reviews I read here...great start hdtv for the $$. The set worked great for about 2 weeks then I started having problems with the HDMI connected components. The cable tv hdmi connection would often have a "No Signal" response on the set and this would only be corrected by turning on the second HDMI component (a dvd player). Seems like there is a serious problem with the HDMI board. In any case, after a couple months, Toshiba replaced the HDMI board (under warranty), but sadly (after a 25 day repair time-frame), the same problem ensued. Basically, I'd be cautious buying this set if you plan to plug in more than one HDMI component. Great picture and decent sound when it is actually working.

5 Stars Toshiba 32 inch LCD HDTV
This television took very little time to get it set up and viewable. The tv arrived, was unboxed and within 15 minutes was being used. We used this tv as a stand alone but it is made to be able to put on the wall. Everything fit well and all parts and pieces were accounted for. The flat screen makes it much easier to watch because there is not the distortion of the picture of the other types of tvs. It is HD capable but at this time we are not using this function. If we were to need another television in the house, we would not hesitate to buy another.

5 Stars Great Television For the Price
I picked this TV up at a local Circuit City Outlet for a STEAL, and I mean a STEAL!

This TV has great picture quality and great component connections.

Granted it is not 1080P, but as a secondary office TV it is GREAT!

This TV easily compares to the TV's that are priced at 650 to 800 dollars (Sony, Samsung, etc.).

Instructions are easy to use, and setup is a snap. The only con of this TV is the warm up time during the initial power on.

Toshiba offers a 1 year warranty on Products and Labor. Extended warranties are typically offered through resellers, but it may or may not be required depending on the user, etc.

Pros: Easy to read manual, many component connections, great picture quality, good sound.

Cons: TV takes a while to warm up when initial turn on.

1 Star TOSHIBA KILLS SANTA
NOTE: this is a general review of Toshiba's customer service center. Should you have any concerns about what may happen when or if you tv breaks, this is the chaos and frustration you will find in dealing with them. Please go with a different brand...

We bought a TV/DVD combo from Toshiba as a gift from Santa last year for my 8-year old so that she could watch her Full House and Lizzie McGuire movies on it in her bedroom. Unfortunately, after 4 months, the tv's picture stopped working. She told me to send it back to Santa, so off it went to our local authorized Toshiba repairman, as you cannot return these items to Amazon after a certain period of time. We were told by Toshiba that the tv was under full warranty for parts and service. The repairman said no. We would have to pay at least $80 in service repairs. Well, it's been six months and we have yet to see our tv. The part that was supposedly broken was out of stock. Toshiba has sent out part after part after part...spending more in shipping and parts I'm sure than we actually paid for the tv. Now they are shipping out their 4th part...and we still have no tv and it's November. NOTE: the Toshiba representatives were rude and their supervisor (Dave Thomson) was scripted and condescending. TOSHIBA DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AND DOES NOT HELP ITS CUSTOMERS.

My daughter got so upset that Santa didn't return her tv that we had to buy her another tv a few months ago. Then, she overheard one of the numerous heated discussions between my husband and Toshiba. Every time my husband called, we were told the issue would be "escalated". The representatives are scripted and said whatever they could to passify us. In the end, we were told by Toshiba's supervisor (Dave Thomson) that this was their final decision...to just continue to keep trying to fix an inferior product with no hope that it may get fixed. By the time we get the tv back, if we get it back, it will no longer be under warranty.

In the end, with no return of her original tv and the numerous phone calls to/from Toshiba, my daughter finally got the clue and realized Santa doesn't exist. Thanks Toshiba. MAY NO PARENT EVER RELY ON YOUR PRODUCT AGAIN! THE TECHNOLOGY IS LOUSY AND YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT! GIVEN HOW TIGHT CONSUMERS' WALLETS ARE THIS SEASON, I HOPE PEOPLE LOOK PASSED YOUR BRAND AND SELECT A BETTER CHOICE.

FYI...When we purchased the tv, it was not made clear to us that it would be outdated within 14 months with the switch to digital.

Happy Holidays from a very dissatisfied customer.

5 Stars Great first HDTV
I purchased this TV from a big box store three days ago; I am not disappointed.

This is my first HDTV, upgrading from a 12 year old Sony 27" Trinitron tube. The picture quality on this Toshiba set on HD sources is great. ESPN HD, NFL football, HBO HD, my XBox 360 all look great. Colors pop.

Non HD sources look nice as well. My Digital Cable box (Time Warner) is connected via a HDMI cable. Non hi-def stations (like Comedy Central) look wonderful (and every bit as good, if not better, than my old set). This Toshiba includes a "DNR" setting (Digital Noise Reduction) which cleans up standard def sources. The picture looks smooth and colorful, not splotchy and downgraded.

Some people have complained about the set needing several seconds to turn on. It does, but I doubt most people will be bothered by it. It takes 5 to 7 seconds.

One caveat. The factory presets on this set aren't ideal. The blacks were slightly washed out and flesh tones a little too orange for my liking. But after going through a THX Optimization (available on every Disney DVD), it looks great. Blacks are much deeper and flesh tones are appropriately pink.

This may not be the best LCD set on the market, but it is very good. In my opinion, it offers a better picture than the Sony KDL-32L4000 and costs significantly less. I found it for $[...] and am thrilled.

Once again, Sharp, a leader in LCD technology, establishes a new design standard for LCD TVs. With a screen size class of 42", the AQUOS LC-42D64U raises the bar by fitting large screen sizes into incredibly small footprints. By changing the layout of circuits inside the LCD panel and by reducing the number of parts, Sharp engineers developed the Slim-line design which reduces depth by 25%, allowing placement of the LC-42D64U in virtually any setting. The LC-42D64U utilizes Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View / Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, providing 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology and 4ms response time. The LC-42D64U features built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and includes 3 HDMI (version 1.3) inputs, compatible with 1080p signals, a PC input and 2 HD component video inputs. Side terminals are included for wall-mounting convenience as well as RS-232C input for control.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars great freaking TV
You just can't go wrong with this tv. Best bang for the buck in 2008. Thing looks awesome mounted on the wall. Super thin, nice minimal design... a no brainer if I had the choice to make again.

4 Stars A "surprise" from my husband
I don't really care about HDTV. My sad state of TV watching includes a bunch of crap on Noggin, PBS and Cartoon Network. I rarely get to watch grown up TV.

I will concede that the picture is super. It is almost freaky how news anchors seem to be sitting in your living room. Who wanted to know how many freckles the weather girl has? Not me, for sure. But the Olympics were awful crisp and movies are over the top.

The sounds is taking a bit to get used to. Not sure why, but it seems that commercials are 50 times louder than the programming. If I cared all that much, I would fix it, I suppose.

It was well worth the money, as far as my husband is concerned.

1 Star Thin Grey Line Through Center of TV 3 months after warranty expired
My original LC42D64U experienced a thin grey line through the center of the tv screen. It is not a banding issue as its vertical in nature. This issue was experienced by many buyers as evidenced by a simple google search. It apparently is a join issue between the panels.

The only reason I would recommend this tv and sharp is that Sharps customer service was excellent. Emails were replied to within hours, English was spoken clearly and I was given a brand new model minus shipping costs within 2 days of reporting this issue, even though I was our of warranty.

As for the television itself, the picture is excellent, and the amount of inputs are perfect.

5 Stars Great TV
This is my first LCD purchase as I did my homework for nearly 3 months. I have owned this for 9 months now and absolutely love it. It has ample HDMI inputs, weighs nearly 20lbs less than its predecessor and looks "Sharp" even turned off. Along with HD programming, my friends couldnt wait to watch ANY sporting event. Hockey had OUTSTANDING clarity and the Olympics were just WOW! I would definately recomend this TV to anyone making a LCD purchase.

5 Stars So far so good
Got it a couple of weeks ago, so far very happy with it as well as Amazon's service. While I expected a good picture, the most pleasant surprise has been how "smart" the user interface is and how it can sense what things are plugged in and where...
