4 Stars JVC 42" 1080p review
Great Picture with 1080p & 1080i the 480 is just as good as the others, I also have a samsung 40" and a sharp 42" and for the price 1095.00 and free shipping its a better tv. I gave it a 4 star because I have not tried the ipod docking station.

3 Stars Nice TV - Ipod functionality limited
The TV is great...on its own. I am totally impressed with the TV. I have to confess the Ipod Teleport is not that great, at least to me. You can't toggle playlists and you can't listen to the Ipod in TV mode. To switch playlists you have to manually do that on the ipod. I think this is a seriously flaw. Who the heck wants to have to walk up and toggle to switch playlists. Also your play list will not show up on the screen so you have to push forward to get to other songs. As I write this, I am higly disappointed with the Ipod function. If you are buying for this reason, please don't. If you are buying this for the TV, then ok. But the Ipod dock SHOULD NOT be your determing factor.

3 Stars Update from my other model...still needs help
This model was purchased to replace my two daughters' 19 inch Toshiba LCD/DVD combo. Review can be found on here. At first sight, you think that you can't go wrong. It is a wonderful little television for the purpose of bedroom; especially child's bedroom!

The good:

Picture quality is great.

Plays DVD's as of now. (Old model is picky and only likes Disney DVDs)

Volume control and rest of functions can be accessed by Direct TV remote.

Sound is awesome... at night we have to leave it at LEVEL 5 out of 50. Very loud.

The BAD:

I just noticed the other night that if you are beneath the screen, even a foot, then forget the picture quality!! Everything was DARK and GRAY. My Toshiba REGZA in my bedroom does not do this at all!

The HD channels that is picks up on its' own aren't that abundant, compared to the REGZA.

Finally, the picture is nice, but it isn't vibrant the way a new television should be.

So... now that you know the good and bad, you will not be disappointed. IF this is for a bedroom then it will suffice. If you want it for great HD viewing, then skip this. SPEND THE EXTRA dollars and buy a REGZA... the picture and quality just blows this one away.

1 Star WARNING: TOSHIBA KILLED SANTA FOR MY KID
NOTE: this is a general review about dealing with Toshiba's customer service center and their return policy. Should you have anything go wrong with your tv, this is what you can expect....

We bought a TV/DVD combo from Toshiba as a gift from Santa last year for my 8-year old so that she could watch her Full House and Lizzie McGuire movies on it in her bedroom. Unfortunately, after 4 months, the tv's picture stopped working. She told me to send it back to Santa, so off it went to our local authorized Toshiba repairman, as you cannot return these items to Amazon after a certain period of time. We were told by Toshiba that the tv was under full warranty for parts and service. The repairman said no. We would have to pay at least $80 in service repairs. Well, it's been six months and we have yet to see our tv. The part that was supposedly broken was out of stock. Toshiba has sent out part after part after part...spending more in shipping and parts I'm sure than we actually paid for the tv. Now they are shipping out their 4th part...and we still have no tv and it's November. NOTE: the Toshiba representatives were rude and their supervisor (Dave Thomson) was scripted and condescending. TOSHIBA DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AND DOES NOT HELP ITS CUSTOMERS.

My daughter got so upset that Santa didn't return her tv that we had to buy her another tv a few months ago. Then, she overheard one of the numerous heated discussions between my husband and Toshiba. Every time my husband called, we were told the issue would be "escalated". The representatives are scripted and said whatever they could to passify us. In the end, we were told by Toshiba's supervisor (Dave Thomson) that this was their final decision...to just continue to keep trying to fix an inferior product with no hope that it may get fixed. By the time we get the tv back, if we get it back, it will no longer be under warranty.

In the end, with no return of her original tv and the numerous phone calls to/from Toshiba, my daughter finally got the clue and realized Santa doesn't exist. Thanks Toshiba. MAY NO PARENT EVER RELY ON YOUR PRODUCT AGAIN! THE TECHNOLOGY IS LOUSY AND YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT! GIVEN HOW TIGHT CONSUMERS' WALLETS ARE THIS SEASON, I HOPE PEOPLE LOOK PASSED YOUR BRAND AND SELECT A BETTER CHOICE.

FYI...When we purchased the tv, it was not made clear to us that it would be outdated within 14 months with the switch to digital.

Happy Holidays from a very dissatisfied customer.

Is good LCD DVD player combo,

Wish the sound/voice was stronger, or a little louder

2 Stars 2.5 stars for the second $500 lemon
due to a space concern in the bedroom we bypassed a regza and went with this 22" tv. The first one we got was incredibly defective. It turned itself on in the middle of hte night multiple times with no provocation. Then when watching broadcast channels in digital, the sound was wont to cut out for minutes at a time. Then one of our local channels, channel 3, was changed in the toshiba memory ( by itself ) to channel 50, and now when we try to navigate from channel 3 to the next channel, it jumps to channel 57! so the channels were all mixed up. my father went back to the store and they told him that hte tv's in the store all do that !

but we tried another unit of this same tv, hoping that this one was just unusually defective. no such luck. this one also has major problems with the sound where it cuts out for minutes at a time. imagine if it were after february 2009, and you could not switch back to the analog! you would lose minutes of dialogue for your favorite program! i cannot believe no one else has had any problem with this, but maybe it is due to the fact that they have cable tv and not antenna like we do.

the channels are slow to change, but you'll be lucky if thats your only problem with this tv. The sound cutting out is such a shame because the toshiba has better sound than any other brand of LCDs BY FAR. my recommendation is to get what i have in my bedroom a 32" toshiba regza 720/1080i. its a great tv. you wont be disappointed ( and comes from amazon for a nice price )

4 Stars Not bad!!
Good product for the price - I can pick up a few HD channel through my local cable service provider (even though I did not pay for it). DVD function is simple to use. Like the previous reviewer - changing TV channel takes 2 second (slight delay) - apart from that, no complain at all.

5 Stars Awesome TV -- For Adults!
I bought this television in July. Let me just start by saying that the television is AWESOME for watching television and DVDS/BDs. I have it going through my Sony receiver, which has 4 HDMI inputs, and the ability to add audio delay. Sooooo... that being said, I don not have the problem with not being able to connect enough devices to the tv. I bought it for that very reason...I don't want a bunch of wires/cables goiing to the tv as it hangs on the wall! So I have 3 HDMI devices going to the Sony receiver, and 1 HDMI output from the Sony to the tv transmitter...I never have to change the tv input device... just the receiver input device. Now, add this all to the Harmony One remote and it works perfectly!

I also don't have the problem with gaming delays because I simply don't hook the games (PS3, WII, 360) to the system...I use my 72-inch Samsung TV (which cost less initially on Amazon, now goes for 3,999.00)for that!!!!

1 Star Don't buy
I bought this tv 2 weeks ago and have had issues with it since. Though the picture quality was great and the tv was nice looking, I experienced the following problems:

1.You cannot play video games on it, because of the extreme delay between what you see on the tv and the gaming console. The repairman said that if my xbox had hdmi this would be better, but he also said that about componet (which I'd tried) before I showed him that component didn't solve it either.

2. After watching anything for about 15 minutes, the tv screen freezes and then connects with the wireless station, which takes about a minute and usually happens once every few hours. I should note that I plug my tv into a power strip, which I turn off each night to save energy, so if you leave your tv plugged in this may not be as much of an issue.

3. The delay between the audio and video when plugged into a home theater is huge. The setting on my reciever can delay the audio up to 100ms and even that is not quite enough.

For my use, the technology simply isn't there yet, and I returned it yesterday. Amazon was very helpful and gracious about the return, however, and I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

2 Stars Major probelms with this TV
I see some of you are having the issues I am having. Love the look and idea of this TV. The delay well you can't get around it. I was told. "It is not a gaming TV." I was told it was just the burn in problem. But I never new about the delay. I rigged up my home theater and there was a delay. Then I got the manual and yes you have to plug your HDMI cables in and the audio has to come from the transmitter box to your amp. Works fine then.

Now the big problem is that the image breaks up and then goes off and the TV looks for the transmitter again. The AC effects it. The phone effects it. At least that is the problem right now. The LOCAL samsung engineers found that there are 2 capacitors under powered and heat up. These need to be replace from a 10 watt to a 24watt. Well I thought this did it. For about an hour. Same problems. Today it was the wireless phone. Closer I got it basically didn't work at all. So far it's a useless TV. We shall see what happens in the next week. But if someone next door turns on a phone and it can screw your TV up that's a piece of junk that should have never been released. So far the Samsung people say ya so what. We'll see what we can do if not that's the way it is. I'm going to start to talk with Best Buy to see if they will give me something else. Yet my whole room is set up for a wireless TV. As in I'd need a 40' HDMI cable or tear the whole room apart again and through money down the drain. Sucks.

4 Stars Has a few cons to go along with the pros.
I just got this TV delivered to me today. A couple of pros: This is the nicest looking flat screen TV I have seen. The picture and sound are both fantastic, and I haven't even gone HD on it yet. However, within 30 minutes of owning it, I noticed a few problems.

1. That little box in the picture where you plug in all your cables? I didn't realize that thing is the size of a cable box or DVD player. This is obviously my fault for not realizing the perspective of it in the picture, but I'm sure others will make the same mistake. I thought I'd be able to tuck it away somewhere. No can do. I've actually decided to put the TV on top of it, cause it is actually as wide or wider than the stand, contrary to what the picture would have you believe.

2. This TV doesn't have a game mode because it is wireless. The wireless transmission to the TV causes a slight delay in seeing what you just did on your video game. For example, I have a Wii. After I roll a bowling ball down the lane, it takes about one second for me to see and hear it on the TV. So I need to move my Wii to my old TV, which is disappointing. This brings me to problem 3.

3. You can plug just about anything into the wireless box, including an external hard drive through which you can pull up MP3's and photos on the TV, which is awesome, but you can't plug anything into the actual TV except the power cable, so there's just no way to solve the gaming problem. I bought it without planning to hang it on the wall. Other than the fact that it comes with a stand, it is completely meant to be hung on a wall.

4. You kind of have to mash the buttons on the remote for a while before it does what you wanted. You can't just tap a button and the channel changes. You have to really get after it. I get the feeling that it's having to communicate back and forth with the box to get things done. This will probably be solved when I get a comcast box, but I'll still experience a delay.

Other than those issues, it rocks. But if you're a gamer, I'd get a non-wireless LCD.

1 Star Problem with the wireless box
I recently returned this tv. The picture is absolutely stunning, but the tv loses signal with the wireless base unit once every hour or so. I had the samsung tech come and work on the base unit. He replaced some part in it, but even that did not solve the problem. A great tv if it works, but unfortunately mine did not.

1 Star Toshiba kills Santa
NOTE: this is a general review of Toshiba's customer service center. Should you have any concerns about what may happen when or if you tv breaks, this is the chaos and frustration you will find in dealing with them. Please go with a different brand...

4 Stars NICE UNIT..BUT
This is a nice little unit. I find the picture very clear and the sound is not bad, considering the size of the speakers. Very light and has a very good viewing angle, better than some larger lcd's I've looked at. The built in dvd player is simple and works well and the remote is very intuitive and easy to use. The only downside is you cannot mount this tv to the wall. Because of the dvd player it is not compatable with any of the the existing wall mounts. It has no mounting holes for a wall mount.

Other than that it is a great little unit for the money and works well for small spaces.

4 Stars So far, so good...........
Since I just bought this to replace a space killing CRT model I don't have long-term experience. But so far, the picture is crisp and bright, there's an included DVD player (which I didn't need but oh, well)and its footprint is wee-wee-tiny......on my breakfast counter it is a godsend. I now have room to spread out the morning paper there. I paid close attention to reviews of 15" flat screen TV's and while I think $299 was pretty high for a small screen, the other cheaper no-names seemed to have rotten reviews. I'm trusting in Toshiba's reputation and the reviews. The unit was shipped amazingly fast from AMAZON and is light as a feather.

I'll reserve final judgment for about a year to see how it works then.

One thing that I find odd is the VERY VERY slow switching of channels.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star simply sucks
it`s not even 2 years since I bought this tv and it already started crapping out on me, I have been seeing blue patches, pixels moving back and forth on the side of the screen (not a burn in. the patches are moving) definitely killing all the fun and enjoyment. now samsung would charge me $100 bucks just to come and take a look at it, and the technician over the phone said he thinks it could be a defective Plasma screen and would probably be have to replaced with a new one which would cost me a hefty $$$ of course the piece of crap tv is out of warranty and although it`s a defected screen Samsung will do absolutely nothing about the situation unless I pay for it. I have seen a lot of complains over the internet about the same issue on Samsung Plasma`s so I would recommend you to buy LCD, if you set your mind on Plasma then definitely go with some other brand since this Samsung is a huge piece of crap.

2 Stars Horrible Image Retention
I've had this tv for under a year. The image retention (IR) is progressively getting worse. At this point, if there is a static graphic on the screen for as short as 3-5minutes, I'll have IR for several minutes after. And yes, I have all the settings that are supposed to deter this problem. Note on page 3 of the manual at the bottom it states that burn-in and IR are NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY!!! Despite not being covered, when I called about the problem, I was referred to the local warranty repair shop and they attempted to fix the problem by replacing the pc boards (not sure exactly which ones). That didn't help at all. Then they took the tv to their shop. After which they informed me that the problem wasn't covered. If it isn't covered why did they even try to fix it to begin with???

I am extremely disappointed with this product.

5 Stars Excellent tv for the price!!!
I've owned this tv for 6 months now,and I'm very satisfied with the picture

quality and options. The sound could be better but is fine when using Onkyo

reciever.Picture quality for video games and dvd playback is excellent. My HD Direct TV picture looks awesome on this unit. There is some glare from

lighting in the house or the sun, but its not as bothersome as some other tv's.I have had no problems with this tv.Everything works as it should.

I would highly recomend this tv to anyone looking for the best picture, biggest size, and best price. After all, thats why I bought it!

2 Stars Read this review if you play video games
I bought this TV in January and loved it. Eventually I noticed a flickering problem where the screen brightness would flicker up and down. Read about it on the AVS forums and got it fixed through Samsung support. Then I noticed the image retention. If you play any xbox 360 games or watch tv in 4:3 with sidebars it will show up. You can run the screen burn in program that will eventually wipe it off but it always comes back next time you play. Ever play GTA4? See that radar in the bottom left? That is always going to be on your TV after you are done playing. The longer you go without wiping it with the cleaner the longer it will stay on there. If you play video games do yourself a favor and don't buy this set. I sold mine and am saving for another set preferably LCD. I just wanted to warn people trying to decide which set to buy. Avoid this set.

2 Stars Great picture until you get screen burn-in
I use this TV for my baby to watch Noggin which isn't HD. After a few weeks of use the Noggin channel logo and side black bars burned into the screen. I tried using the burn-in removal feature (Samsung recommends running it for 1+ hour )which only helps about %30. I guess this is one of the biggest draw back of plasma TVs. Totally unacceptable. This was my first plasma and will probably be my last.
